What if you received a monthly check, no strings attached, sufficient to cover your basic needs?

Imagine a world where financial stress is a relic of the past and you receive a steady, unconditional stream of income, opening doors to new possibilities and dreams. This is the promiss of UBI—a bold, transformative idea that redefines our relationship with the economy, work, society and the environment. Our documentary aims to unravel the layers of UBI, exploring its potential to uplift lives and reshape societies.

Join us on a cinematic journey to discover how a simple, yet profound, shift in the economics of daily life could ignite a global revolution in well-being by providing economic stability as a right, not a privilege.

But... if UBI worked so well, why isn't it implemented already?

So, you’re asking the million dollar question, huh?

Well, that’s exactly what we’re trying to figure out. Sure, there’s a ton of stuff that works, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s going to be implemented.

The effects of UBI is a double edged sword. As long as there is scarcity, people are more likely doing things they actually don’t want to do.

These people often find themselves working in industries that exploit humans, animals and nature. Hunting, poaching and crime are squeezing every last drop out of other people. Sadly, this is a big part of the workforce worldwide.

So you see, this rabbit hole goes deep. There are a lot of organizations and governments who are against implementing UBI because it basically hands people the freedom to say no to exploitation. The system needs exploitation in order to work the way it works.

That’s why we want to investigate in the film why global governments are hesitant to adopt UBI for a faster, more humane transition.

UBI, as a potentially transformative policy, is the central theme of our narrative.

"If I can't pay my bills, the penguins can wait in line..."

Poverty costs a lot more than we can imagine…. But we have to admit…The consumption one bothered us a lot…

…but we have to do something. We can’t just chill and hope for everyone to start living sustainably and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Especially when the ecological crisis is making life a whole lot tougher for those already living from paycheck to paycheck, which are a lot of people on earth

But here is hope…

Worldwide pilot programs about UBI show promising results that UBI can address poverty and sustainability issues all at once. People are making more sustainable choices when they are lifted out of poverty. And when society as a whole is in less financial stress, and has more money to spend, it’s easier to make sustainable choices too. These are only first level surface effects. In the film we will dive a lot deeper into the ecological effects.

How do we tell the story? We need your help!

Listen… we are not economist or UBI experts. We are simply curious individuals eager to learn and like to share emotional stories in a visual manner. There are many people worldwide who can explain UBI and its broader implications way better than we can.

We allow these individuals, along with those exploited and part of pilot programs, to tell their stories. We will also highlight controversy and challenge governments and organizations like the UN on their reluctance to support a fairer and just economy that UBI helps to provides.

The world likes to talk only about problems, which makes the problems even worse…

Mainstream media and journalists typically focus on problems instead of solutions. It relies on drama to keep people hooked. Consequently, it becomes more challenging to discuss solutions that genuinely progresses humanity.

UBI represents hope and a fresh perspective on humanity. It’s inherently optimistic.

We seek change and progress. That’s the essence of our story.

So, why crowdfunding?

We have considered all the possible options when it comes to funding. We sat around the table with producers, organisations that provide funding with conditions, and we wanted to pitch our project to Netflix.

Actually, none of these situations and answers made real sense to us in our particular situation. We want it to be our independent production and vision. As soon as there is a producer involved, the message might be convoluted because they want to have a saying in the story. Besides that, many TV broadcasters want exclusive rights, but our production needs to be international. Therefore, this was simply not an option for us.

Also, because this documentary will be controversial, few producers are brave enough to engage in this project, or don’t seethe potential of the story because they don’t know enough about UBI and the true impacts of this idea.

So, the only true option left is to get the funding through crowdfunding. It also makes more sense: UBI is inherently for the people and by the people.

Our dream is to make as much people as possible understand the message of UBI. Being involved in this production together is a beautiful first step to do so.

As soon as we fully made the documentary, we will bring it to the best film festivals. Of course we hope that major streaming platforms will be represented there and want to get the film on their platform.

Let us take you on this beautiful journey to show you the full potential and all the positive impacts of UBI!

We have stretch goals. The more we raise, the more stories we can unlock. And the more we raise, the deeper we can go with the stories.

We devide the project in relatively small phases so we can be transparent about what we are going to do with the raised amounts of money. This means for the goal we have set of €7,500 we can produce a part of the documentary and the film will not be finished untill we have at least reached the last goal in our stretched goals. We will give clear updates on our backers where we are at in our production phase.

Our first goal is €7,500

We start with stories that are non-western. The implications of UBI are a lot different in India than for example in Sweden or Germany. The effects of the UBI pilot programs in India and Namibia for example were about about criminality, deforestation, independency and less stroping. This affect us all

Because our film is also about the ecological crisis, we need to visit these countries. The poverty that these citizens face have a visual impact on nature and thus has a significant impact on climate change and the ecological crisis

And to be clear, that doesn’t make them ‘bad people’. The poor incentives of the system leads them to make bad decisions

For example: If you live near a rain forest, or have access to killing elephants to earn money, for them it’s ‘easy money’ to survive. But they do this so they can feed their family.

UBI gives people options, so they can make better ethical decisions

In this way we show how UBI has a positive effect on the ecological crisis.

Kickstarter Goals

Be aware that if you donate throught our website, it won’t be included in the amount of money in Kickstarter, but  the upside is, no matter how much we raise on the website, we can already use for the documentary and don’t need to ‘get the goal’ in order to receive the money.
